From a distance enter into the ears the ripples of the Brahmani, which intertwines numerous legends and tales of our land. The college is far away from the din and bustle of Jaraka town and the deafening sounds of the busy vehicles on the N.H. 5 never reach it. To the north of it, the historically famous Deuli Hills ornamented with Buddhist monuments, stands in majesty the temple of Lord Gokarneswar, around which millions of tourists and pilgrims throng with religious gaity and fervour. Sorrounded thus by flawless beauty the college wears a human look . Right from its inception till date the college has been representing a symbiotic relationship between itself and the locality . It bears the testimony of the endless efforts and tireless belongingness of the local people , but for which it could not have grown in a soundline . The History of Dharmasala Mahavidyalaya is only a reflection of the triumph of popular will and local initiative. The college was founded on 30th.Aug.1978. Classes were held in Jaraka Primary School premises for six months. It was shifted to the new building on the bottom of Deuli hill near cashew field . At first the college was affiliated to Utkal University for Intermediate Arts class. Bachelor of Arts classes started in 1983- 84. +2 Science and Commerce classes started respectively in 1986 - 87 and 1983 - 84. +3 Science classes started in 1994. Today the college imparts Honours study in Economics , History , Oriya , Philosophy, Poltical Science, English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany & Zoology..
