The Basic Training Centre, Diphu, Karbi Anglong was establish in 1987 with the intake capacity with 50 nos. of in-service elementary school teacher, 1 yr. Junior Basic Training Certificate Course since, the inception. Generally it was late to established the Teacher’s Training Institution in Karbi Anglong comparatively in the other District of Assam. Nevertheless, the existing administrative building was erected by the PWD, KADC (Karbi Anglong District Council) in 1962 for the propose of Basic Training Centre, Diphu by allotting land Dag no. 332 to impart the training course for the teacher professional development.
This Teacher Training Institution has been conducting for 1 yr. in-service Junior BTC course especially for L.P. level since 1987-2010. The 2 years D.El.Ed. Course for in-service teacher training has recently introduced from the academic session 2010-12 to 2012-14. The existing 2 yrs. D.El.Ed course is being proposed for PSTE training for the academic session 2015-17 one unit with 50 intake capacity as per the recommendation provided from the NCTE File No. ER-186/ ERCAPP2072/ D.El.Ed/2015/31566 dated 06-05-2015 Odissa, Bhubaneswar.
It was come to possible to emergence of this institution with the immense generous effort by some dedicated local leaders. It can’t be disclosed a dynamic leader of his great personality and Karbi renown writer late Sam Sing Hanse, Ex-Minister, Health & HAD, Assam was put viewed and initiated the death lock of political dilemma in this regard.
The Basic Training Centre, Diphu itself closely associated with the mission mode activities in teacher capacity building, inovative teaching learning process, community awareness as District stakeholder in convergence of DPEP, SSA and RMSA in Karbi Anglong District.
