Samya Samaj, a society run NGO was established and registered under Society Act 1963 in the year 1989. The organisation has been established with the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda and his man making education & social reconstruction. This has four pronged objectives in the following fields :
Education     : To propagate the idea of man-making education and establish institutions of excellence in this field.
Health           : To encourage indigenous health keeping system and preventive measures including training of homecare & general nursing units and to establish health care units and hospitals for the purpose of serving the poor in the rural villages.
Economy       : To encourage co-operative movement and engage rural people mostly in self employment programme by enhancing skills and competence in different sector and to train the youths in different skill development sectors.
Culture         : To encourage folk culture including dance, drama, music and art works of the locality vis-a-vis the country and to propagate the ideals & strength of cultural heritage of the country and to unity the people in one tune removing the differences in the field of religion, caste, creed and sex.
On the basis of the above objectives, the organisation started its journey to translate those ideas in the field level by dint of Swamiji’s message “Application of Vedanta from the Forest to Home” which advocates the inner strength of human being to do the impossible. Samya Samaj in the last 25 years have tried its utmost to uphold the idea of self confidence in achieving noble causes in the society.
A) Eradication of illiteracy: Situation of pre 90 rural Bengal was different in literacy scenario. Before launching Total Literacy Campaign (TLC) in West Bengal in 90s, this organisation organised at least 110 centres in different Gram Panchayet of Panskura-II Panchayet Samity. It organised this campaign along with 110 preraks and 6 clusters (Jana Siksha Nilayams) which was not only resource centres for literacy but also place where certain activities like weaving, tailoring, mushroom cultivation were also incorporated for the learners who are mainly women. With the introduction of TLC, the programme initiated by this organisation became aded in course of time. However the organisation had contributed a lot in the TLC programme also.
