 Establishment of Colleges of education in Punjab in private sector by Punjab Govt. is a progressive step to produce trained, qualified, skillful, and competent teachers within the state. In spite of scientific progress and invention of computers as teaching machine, latest audio- visual aids, the presence of teacher cannot be replaced or displaced in teaching learning process. I am of firm belief that a teacher is always a teacher. He never retires even after he is gone; he lives in his deeds and disciples. India is a land where Guru is worshipped. We have inherited the culture in which the Guru never went to the king. It was the king who approached Guru to seek his blessings and guidance in day-to-day affairs. Shivam College of education has started functioning during the session 2005-06 with a total intake of 100 students. But keeping into consideration of the infrastructure facility as well as the quality of education N.C.T.E. has approved an additional intake of 100 students in the session 2008-09 making it to 200. During the last session one of our student Mrs.Gurvinder Kaur secured 82.66% marks in annual result.
