DIETs is nodal institution for improving the quality of elementary education in the district. It is mandated to transact pre-service and in-service training programs for elementary school teachers. The DIETs need to be strengthened in all respects in terms of organizational structure, physical infrastructure, academic programs, human resources, and financial support. Under the new scheme, the responsibility of DIETs grows multi-fold especially in the context of RTE Act, RMSA and NCF and not limited to teacher training but as an institution to manage quality aspects in schools, professional development of teachers, intra-district academic coordination in the district, academic assessment monitoring, research and action research, ICT interventions, innovative practices and academic planning in the district.
There are 34 sanctioned DIETs in the state and DIET, Panvel is one of them.
