Named after the late Govind Ballabh Pant, a great genius, educationist and statesman of his time, this College came into existence in July, 1959. It was formally inaugurated on 11th November, 1959 by Raja Bajrang Bhadur Singh of the Bhadri State, the then Lieutenant Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Situated on the left bank of the legendary river Satluj, the College Campus is quite by the National High-Way No. 22 about 130 km, away from the historical Shimla town. Adorned with green sloppy fields, tall leafy trees, sprawling playgrounds, modern laboratories and comfortable separate hostels for boys and girls, the college is an ideal centre for learning and knowledge. It is a co-educational Institution and imparts meaningful education in the faculties of Humanities, Science and Commerce leading to the Bachelor’s Degree. The year 1994 marked a new phase of academic development with opening of M.A. Classes in the subjects of English, Hindi, Commerce, History, Economics and Political Science. Physical infrastructure facilities are being developed by way of constructing Auditorium, Arts and Library Blocks. The college has experienced staff and capable teachers fully committed to take the students to academic heights. Ample opportunities are provided to students through different academic and co-curricular activities to develop their mental and physical outlook.
The pleasant surroundings with scenic splendour amid the hilly solitudes are the other attractions of this College. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has awarded B Grade to this college for excellent performance in providing quality Higher Education to students. We are proud of our dedicated teachers and disciplined students. Students are advised that Ragging is totally banned in and around the College Campus and Hostel premises. Any student indulging in Ragging will be expelled from the College.
