The college was inaugurated in 1972 by the Honourable President of India V.V. Giri and the Honourable Governor of Karnataka State, Mr. Mohanlal Sukhadia. This institution has produced many educationalist. The total land area of this institute is 4.2 acres and has a 27,000 sq.ft building with 2 acres of sportsfield and 1 acre garden. The infrastructure consists of a general staff room, a separate staff room for ladies, rest room facilities for gents and ladies, a laboratory, library, psychology lab, computer lab, reading room, class rooms with adequate furniture, office room, N.S.S. room and sports room. Moreover, facilities such as vehicle parking shed and college canteen is also available.
