academic research course in Planning. The minimum course duration for the
course is 3 years and maximum 5 years depends on your research proposal. This
course basically deals with the designs of town planning or urban space based

into course work and research work. During research work a thesis is carried
out under supervision. To be eligible to apply to PhD in planning course,
students must hold a M.Arch Planning
degree with an aggregate of at least 60% marks.

Eligibility Criteria
The student should fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria
in order to pursue a PhD in Planning are mentioned below:
Candidates should hold a post-graduation Degree in a related
field such as Transport / Urban Design / Infrastructure / Housing /Urban
Management from a recognized university/board.
Students need Minimum aggregate of 60% marks or equivalent grade
in the Master’s Degree or equivalent. In the case of reserved category SC/ST/OBC
students, relaxation of 5% marks is given as per GOVT. guidelines.
Students with NET JRF/ M.Phil. can be exempted appearing for
university conducted entrance tests, but need to appear for the personal
interview round.
Admission Process
PhD admissions are done mainly through Entrance Exam
followed by Personal Interview conducted by the respective
institute/university. However sometimes admissions are done through merit
based.
Merit Based Admission
Some universities select students based on the marks
obtained by him in his post-graduation degree. The Selection Committee will
call eligible students possessing the minimum educational qualifications
required for course. The admission process is further followed by personnel
interview and/or Group discussion and/or a written test to judge student
abilities.
Entrance Based Admission
Some universities select students based on the marks secured
by the him in Entrance Tests conducted by own or National level Tests. Students
who have qualified National level Entrance Tests are exempted from the
university level Entrance exams but must have to qualify the personal
interviews before allotted a seat in the college.
