KMCT Medical College was established in the year 2008 with an intake of 100 MBBS seats approved by the Medical Council of India. The College is affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences. The Central Government had accorded recognition for the MBBS course in the year 2013. Postgraduate courses were started in the academic year 2015-16 in Orthopaedics & Pharmacology and in the academic year 2020-21 postgraduate courses were started in other specialities (Microbiology, Community Medicine, General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Anaesthesiology, Psychiatry, Radiology & Pulmonary Medicine). From the academic year 2016-17, the intake of students in MBBS course was increased from 100 to 150 by the approval of Central Government.The Medical College is attached to KMCT Medical College Hospital, which is a tertiary level multispecialty hospital with more than 720 beds. The hospital complex is well equipped & staffed with basic general units & supportive specialities. The hospital has well conducted Cardiology, Neurology & Nephrology departments. Our students have excelled in extracurricular activities and won trophies and medals in arts & sports conducted by Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur. They have also won top positions in quiz competitions conducted in various disciplines of medical science at intercollegiate levels. The college has an Alumni Association which meets every year, and also provide valuable suggestions for the improvement of the Institution.

Admission Process of KMCT Medical College 

Admissions to the MBBS course are granted on the basis of academic merit and entrance test performance.

Candidates who have successfully passed 10+2/higher secondary examinations with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved category) in science stream from a recognized board meet the basic eligibility criteria specified by the college.

Candidates must have Biology, Chemistry, and Physics as compulsory subjects along with English core level in 10+2.

Candidates must also appear for and produce scores obtained in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) to gain admission in the undergraduate course.

Postgraduate applicants must successfully complete MBBS in order to be eligible to apply for the courses.

A merit list is prepared by the college taking into account the academic performance and entrance exam scores of the applicants.

The shortlisted candidates should not be less than 17 years of age.

KMCT Medical College offers a 5 years bachelors degree course in medicine (MBBS) and a couple of postgraduate courses in pharmacology and orthopedics. Candidates must score at least 50% (45% for reserved category) in their 10+2 examinations with Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English as compulsory subjects. Postgraduate applicants must successfully complete MBBS in order to be eligible for admission to the MD courses.

Admissions to both the MBBS and MD courses are entrance based. Candidates must produce scores obtained in NEET before applying for the programmes. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of their 12th and MBBS marks (if applicable) and NEET scores. A merit list of shortlisted candidates is released by the college and displayed on the college notice board and website www.kmctmedicalcollege.org. Final selection is done after document verification and the candidate must pay the stipulated fee within the time period specified.

The college has a central library is spread over an area of 8,500 sq. ft. with 10,000 books and over 100 national and international journals. College provides a separate reading room for journals where students can update themselves with the latest trends and happenings in their respective disciplines. Above all, a separate reading room with a capacity of 100 students and 1500 books is open from morning 08:00 a.m. to 08:00 p.m.

The Campus has many choices for recreation for the students. There are facilities to play games like football, cricket, volleyball, table tennis, and badminton to overcome their tension after classes and examinations. In addition to this, the College conducts college day, and arts & Sports festivals.

KMCT Medical College Placements

After getting the degree I would like to work at KMCT for the year as it is a good college and hospital. And I would also like to take a pg in anatomy and become a lecturer in the same college itself and as a part-time job consultant at home.

Placement rate of the college is nice. Our college has its own hospital so one can also get absorbed there. Internship is offered by the college's hospital however one can opt for the same outside. I applied outside and did Internship in a government college.The placement and job opportunities in the field of medicine are enormous. Jobs are available in both government and private sector with high salary packages. The college also provides internships in the department of attached hospitals.Medical college is not a place for placement we go on with developing our skills thourough classes so that survival of the fittestActually this not an industrial feild to set up any placement.first we have to complete our whole mbbs.We have a compulsory internship after our 4 and a half year course. The internship duration is 1 year and we have to work in almost all fields of medicine day in and out. This sure is a wonderful experience and most of the undergraduates will really understand their areas of interest and to what they have to pursue for their post graduation.
