Sahodaran Ayyappan Smaraka SNDP Yogam College, founded in 1995 is one of the fast-growing HEIs in the village of Konni, the most backward quarter of Pathanamthitta District. This sanctum sanctorum of learning was the first of its kind in the hilly and forest terrain. Since the inception, the opportunities it threw open to this educationally backward sphere have been inestimable. The way it modified the socio-economic life of this rural area can be discerned from the achievements of its alumni in their professional career and from the reputable transformation it effected on the members of their families. Having started with around 160 students, the college has now a strength of over 800 students, 40 teachers and 20 administrative staff. The college enjoys a real social accreditation in its earnest efforts in imparting value-based education while steadily upgrading itself to address the requirements of the students as well as the rustic population around.In 1995 the college offered three UG programmes, BBA, BCA and B.Com.  BBA and BCA programmes were designed by the University as new-generation, professionally oriented courses. In academia, the college opened its innings with a bang, bagging two university ranks off the first batch itself. This centre of learning cruises ahead steadily with active participation in the domains of arts, culture, sports and games. Today, the college offers four Undergraduate programmes and five Postgraduate programmes with MSc Geology as the latest addition.

Admission Process of Sahodaran Ayyappan Smaraka SNDP Yogam College 

The candidates who have completed 10+2 standard education from a recognized board are considered eligible for the admission in BA and BBA courses.

For admission to B.Com and BCA, applicants must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics and Commerce.

For the B.Sc. course, applicants who have passed 10+2 with PCM/ PCB are considered eligible.

To get admission in postgraduate programs, a candidate must have graduate degree in the relevant stream.

Selection of the candidates for admission to any undergraduate course is done on the basis of their merit in the qualifying examination as well their performance in the interview.

Admission to PG courses and MSW (Masters in Social Works) is offered as per the merit of the applicant in the graduation degree course, score obtained in the interview round and Group Discussion.

Applicants who have completed 10+2/ HSC in any discipline form a recognized board are eligible to get admission in BA program.

To get admission in B.Sc. the applicant must have passed HSC/ 10+2 with PCM/ PCB.

The minimum eligibility requirement for B.Com course is 10+2 with Mathematics/ Commerce.

Admission to the eligible candidates is given on the basis of their merit in the qualifying exam.

St. Joseph releases a merit list on its website and the shortlisted candidates are called for the interview round.

Applicants should complete 10+2/ HSC in any discipline form a recognized board are eligible to get admission in BBA program.

The minimum eligibility requirement for BCA course is 10+2 with Mathematics/ Commerce.Candidates should have completed a BA Degree course in the relevant discipline to be eligible for admission to MA course.

For M.Sc. program, the minimum eligibility requirement is B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University.

For admission to M.Com., candidates must hold B.Com Degree whereas to get admission in MSW course applicant will have to pass BSW from a recognized University.Selection of the candidates is done on the basis of their merit in the UG Degree course and score secured in the interview round conducted by the college.

Admission to MSW program is given considering the marks of UG course, entrance test, group discussion and interview round conducted by the college.

Library

The College Library is to support the teaching, learning, research, and other academic programs of the college by collecting, coordinating, and disseminating information centers. It has a major role in paving the way for better academic excellence. Membership Library Membership is open to all the teachers, students, and non-teaching staff of this college.

Laboratories

Passionate teaching staff that conducts practicals in all areas of Zoology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry. All labs have a proper seating capacity of 30 students in each lab. Compound microscopes, dissecting microscopes are available in each lab. Ovens, Heating plate, pH meter, physical balances, B.O.D., and laminar flow, Autoclave, etc for use in Microbiology and Biochemistry lab. The biology lab is well equipped with slides, specimens, and working materials. The department has all the apparatus for practical classes. The department offers On Job Training Programmes and Project works in leading Industries.

I.T Infrastructure

The college has a computer lab with individual computers for each student. The college facilitates external training and exposure for the faculty in the utilization of the IT infrastructure. Students are also made aware of their utility so that the IT infrastructure is effectively utilized for the teaching-learning process. Students can make use of the internet and intranet facility available in these labs on all working days.

Sports

The students are active in sports and games the Sports Club arranges the time and again various sports events and competitions. The College campus provides all amenities to the sports lovers including well-maintained sports grounds and facilities for games such as hockey, football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, athletics, etc., and well as various indoor games like badminton.

Students become eligible for campus placements in 6 semesters after passing all subjects in all semesters including 6 semesters. Companies usually visit for campus placement in college are TATA, PEPSICO, AMAZON etc. The highest average salary package offered by the companies are 6 Lakhs per annum. Almost 85% of students get placed in well-reputed enterprises. After completing my graduation I plan to do an MBA as my master degree.Job opportunities are sure and certain for all the students. But no companies visit our college for placements. All the students manage to get jobs after successfully cleared their courses and apply for a job may be in govt or private firms.Placements and job opportunities are very good. Almost all the students able to get jobs after successfully cleared their graduation or post-graduation.Our college does not provide internships for the students.College provides internships to several companies. Companies from outside can visit our college and can select our students for placement.Many students have got jobs from several companies with good salaries.
