Birla Global University was established in the year 2015. It is a self-financed private University located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The university offers courses at the Undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in different fields of Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Law, Mass Communication, and many more.

Eligibility Criteria for PhD Admission

• Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have a Master's degree or a Professional degree declared equivalent to the Master's degree by the corresponding statutory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
• A relaxation of 5% marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of Grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layer) /Differently- abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time or for those candidates who had obtained their Master Degree prior to 19th September 1991.

Course Duration

• The minimum duration of the course shall be a period of 3 Years including Course Work.
• The maximum duration or the Span period of the programme shall be a period of 6 Years.
• The women candidates and Persons with Disability (more than 40% disability) may be allowed a relaxation of two years for Ph.D. in the maximum duration. In addition, the women candidates may be provided Maternity Leave/Child Care Leave once in the entire duration of Ph.D. for up to 240 days.

• Application Fee (For Entrance Examination of Ph.D. programme)- Rs. 1000/-
• Registration Fee- Rs. 2000/-
• Semester Course work fee- Rs. 60000 per semester (Indian Scholars)
• Fee for Ph.D. programme beyond three years- Rs. 60000 per semester

How to Apply?

The applications for admission to Birla Global University PhD programme are invited through both online and offline modes. Candidates should follow the below-given steps to apply:

• Visit the official website of the University.
• Navigate to the ‘Admissions’ tab on the menu bar and click on the ‘Apply online’ option.
• Choose the desired course and fill the form accordingly and make a fee payment of Rs. 1150/- online using Net/banking/Debit Card/credit card or offline payment using DD drawn in favor of Birla Global University, payable at Bhubaneswar.
• After the successful submission of the application, it will be processed to verify the eligibility of the candidate and hence after verification candidate will be intimidated about the date and venue of the selection process. 
• Applicant interested to appear for the selection process must carry photocopy/Xerox copy of his/her mark sheet of all last qualifying examinations along with GDPI call letter.

Selection Procedure

There shall be a two stage process for admission into the programme.

• An Entrance Test shall be conducted with qualifying marks as 50%. However, candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE/Teacher fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil. Programme through entrance test are exempted from Ph.D Entrance Test.
• An interview/viva-voce is to be organized by the University where the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted Subject Research Committee. Final list of candidates selected for admission into the Ph.D programme shall be prepared by the Board.

Entrance Test

• The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% of Research Methodology and 50% shall be subject specific. The Entrance Test shall be conducted at the Centre(s) notified in advance by the University. The written test shall be qualifying for the viva-voce.
