University of Gour Banga PhD Admission 2024-25

The University of Gour Banga is a State Aided University and it was established under the West Bengal Act XXVI of 2007 on 19th February 2008. During 2016, the University of Gour Banga has scaled important heights by acquiring the UGC 12(B) status, accreditation from the NAAC and a place in the top 200 Indian Universities under the NIRF. These facts become all the more remarkable when one considers that the University was established in 2008 in the backward region of Malda, West Bengal to cater to the academic needs of the population of the three border districts of Malda, North Dinajpur and South Dinajpur. The University has aroused hope for better future in the young people of the region and is going from strength to strength with concerted effort, strong commitment and promises to offer suitable facilities to the students and the faculty in a vibrant and intellectually stimulating ambience.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Master’s Degree with 55% marks in the main subject (or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto)/allied subject (or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto) OR its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed, calculations of marks as per CBCS pattern).
  • In case of candidate possessing Degree equivalent to Master’s Degree from a Foreign University, degree equivalence certificated issued by AIU is mandatory.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks i.e. from 55% to 50% marks in the aforesaid Degrees is allowed for those candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC (Block A & B) non-creamy layer)/ Differently Abled.

Application Process

Interested candidates can register themselves either through online mode or through offline mode. Here are the steps to follow-

Online Application:

  • The Application form will be available on the official website of the University.There will be application form for PhD course.
  • Firstly, fill all the personal & educational details required in the registration form. SMS will be received regarding ID and Password on Phone Number.
  • Login through the ID and choose the Course type. The registration fees would be Rs. 200 and late fine Rs. 300.
  • You will get the Application form.
  • Fill all the necessary details carefully and submit all the necessary documents required in it.
  • The Application fees should be submitted along with the Application fees. For the doctorate course the fee is Rs. 500 and fee for reserved category is Rs. 300.
  • The Candidates have to keep the acknowledgement slip, challan receipt, Printed Copy of Application form for future use.

Offline Application:

  • The Application form will be available in the University. For the doctorate course the fee is Rs. 500 and fee for reserved category is Rs. 300.
  • Fill all necessary details in it and check it carefully.
  • Submit all the necessary documents with the application form.

The Candidates have to keep the printed Copy of Application form for future use.

Selection Criteria

  • Admission into the Ph.D is on the basis of the entrance test conducted by the university. Candidates also have to appear for the interview for the final selection.
