Jamia Darussalam Al Islamiyya is a reputed learning centre in south India providing secular and Islamic education to students, The courses of study includes Quran, Islamic Theology, Fiquh, Hadith, History and culture. Special effort is taken to teach Arabic ,English and Urdu languages with the view of preparing the students to take up Da’wa work. It was on 2nd February 1976 that a committee was constituted under the efficient leadership of Jb.Nandiyil Muhammed Musliar, an eminent scholar and reputed ayurvedic healer for starting an Arabic college. The main motive behind it was to produce eminent Islamic scholars multi linguistic and orators who could take up the challenge of the problems of the modern world and lead the community through the right path.

The committee has come out successful in establishing and running these well organized institutions under its management. These include Darussalam Shareath College Darussalam Islamic and Arts College, Darussalam Orphanage, Darussalam Resort for destitute, Darussalam Hifzul Qur’an College(Calicut) and Darussalam Junior College(Koyilandy). More than 600 students are studying in these institutions and the entire expenses for these students which include tuition fee, boarding charges etc. from the primary level to P.G classes and met by the committee. More over the committee takes care of the orphans and destitutes and meet their entire expenditures during their stay and study in these institutions.

The Headquarters of the Jamia Darussalam Al Islamiayya is situated at Nandi the suburb of the historic city of Koyilandy Kollam. Jb Kottumala Aboobacker Musliyar took charge as the principal of the Arabic College in 1976. Shamsul Ulama E.K.Aboobacker Musliyar, a scholar of international repute assumed charge as the principal of the college in the year 1979. It was under leadership of Shamsul Ulama for a period of more than two decades that the Darussalam Institutions reached in the zenith of its glory. At present the Arabic College functions under the leadership of Moodsakutty Hazrath. The College awards the degree Moulavi Fasil Darimi(MFD) to those who successfully complete the course of the studying in this Arabic College
