Mahanga Puspagiri Mahabidyalaya, Erakana, Cuttack took its birth on the 5th June, 1982 with the blessings of Sk Matlub Ali, the then Hon’ble Minister in the Govt. of Odisha. Direct affiliation was accorded to I.A. Class with 128 Seats with English , MIL(O) as compulsory subject and Oriya, History, Political Science, Education, Economics & Sociology as optional subjects during the session 1982-83. Consequent upon the introduction of Higher Secondary Education, it was affiliated to the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha during the session 1983-84.

 

The Govt. accorded concurrance for increase of seats from 128 to 256 in Eng, M.I.L(O), Political Science, History & Sociology. Affiliation was also obtained in the same year from CHSE. The Government accorded permission for 64 seats in +2 science with English and M.I.l.(O) as compulsory subject and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and  Biology as optional subjects. Permission was also granted for increase of seats from 128 to 256 in Economics in the year 1994-95. The same year, affiliation was also obtained from CHSE. Subsequently the Govt. was pleased to accord permanent concurrance to +2 Arts & +2 Science with English and M.I.L(O) as compulsory subjects, History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology with 256 seats and Education and Oriya with 128 seats and 64 seats each in English, M.I.L(O) Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology subjects. Affiliation was also obtained from CHSE in the same year. Government of Odisha accorded additional concurrance for opening of three year degree course in Arts with 128 seats for the academic session 1987-88, with subjects like English, M.I.L(O) as compulsory course, Political Science, Economics, Oriya, History with 128 seats and Education with 32 seats as core course. Rural Industrialisation as Ancillary applied course.
