St. Gregorios College of Social Science is imparting post graduate degree in Master of Social Work (MSW) from 2005. The college is affiliated to MG University Kottayam. The college name commemorates our founding father’s name SAINT PARUMALA KOCHUTHIRUMENI with an intention to raise the cultural standard of the community by educating its people. The college is owned and run by St. Gregorios Medical Mission Hospital, Parumala. H.G. Dr. Yuhanon Mar Chrysostomos is the Patron of our college.
The department of Social Work is offering Medical & Psychiatric Specialization and expecting to start few more disciplines in the future. The first batch had 4 faculty members and 8 budding social workers who have successfully entered into the profession. Many of our graduates have secured well positions in various establishments in India and foreign countries. The department at present is having its 11th batch with 20 efficient students. The two year full time Post Graduate course in Social Work concentrates on professional training leading to Managerial and Organizational competences in Medical and Psychiatric social work. The students are trained to plan and execute an extensive range of social services, social welfare activities, and work in hospital and other industrial establishments and training institutions.
