The School Assessment Project

ICS has recently completed the “School Assessment Project” with an objective of identifying the “top” schools in certain select cities of India namely, Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, Ahmedabad, Kutch, Rajkot, Surat and Vapi in Gujarat, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Thane in Maharashtra. It is not just the well maintained infrastructure and/ or the state- of art- facilities that go into the making of an “excellent school” but more significant components like teacher- student ratio, teaching- learning processes, effectiveness of faculty and all round development of the student.

The project report, which is a joint effort of the Aga Khan Foundation (www.akdn.org) and ICS International, presents the results of the in-depth analysis of more than 250 schools of the country that were covered under the project through a detailed assessment criteria designed by ICS. The report categorises the top schools into A+, A and B categories on the basis of various parameters and mentions the strengths and weaknesses of each of these schools in a very reader friendly way.

The report consists of 12 chapters, wherein Chapter 1 details the methodology adopted for the analysis and defines the parameters for categorizing the schools into A+, A, B, C and D categories, followed by chapters on the assessment of the schools of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, Ahmedabad, Kutch, Rajkot, Surat and Vapi in Gujarat, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Thane in Maharashtra. In addition, each chapter concludes with a broad analysis regarding school education in the respective city. The concluding chapter highlights the felt need in school education today.

International Student Survey

ICS, in partnership with a renowned educational organization called “Academica”, Canada (www.academica.ca ) is presently conducting a survey on the preferred choices of Indian students for their future education and careers. The outcome will be of immense benefit in fine tuning and strengthening the guidance services provided to students by the school. The survey was administered among the students of grades XI and XII. More than 50 top schools of the country have participated in this survey covering around 5000 students. The final results will be published by Academica.
