The Coimbatore Diocese Society which has been established number of educational institutions inand around Coimbatore District cause of serving humanity choose to fulfil a long felt need to openA new college for a benefit for boys and girls. The 150th year of celebration of the diocese and theSilver jubilee of the Episcopal Ordination of the then president of the society, mostRev Dr.AMBROSE, D.D., D.C.L., became the memorable occasion to fulfil the genuine wishes of theCommunity by favourating the establishment of this co-educational institution in the city.The Tamilnadu government accorded permission to start this new college in G.O.No.382 dated 23-7-97,In the style to function as "BISHOP AMBROSE COLLEGE" and it obtained affiliation from Bharathiar University. The college was formally inaugurated by His Excellency, then theBishop of Coimbatore on 3rd November, 1997. Initially it functioned in a separate block atCarmel Gardman School Campus. After obtaining continuation of provisional affiliation For the academic year 1998-99, the college moved to its own building built in spacious campusAt college nagar, on sungam By-Pass Road, in January 1999. A new Administrative blockAnd a spacious computer lab were blessed by most Rev.Dr.Thomas Aquinas, Bishop of CoimbatoreOn 04th August 2006.
