Nagercoil is the capital town of Kanyakumari District and Asaripallam is about 3 kms from Nagercoil. Asaripallam is an important place because it is here one of the earliest TB sanatoriums was started. The TB sanatorium was started in the year 1937 by the then Travancore Cochin Government. The campus had an area of 100.5 acres which has now become the Kanyakumari Government Medical College, a serene, ecofriendly campus with greeneries all around.
