              Mary Matha college, started in 1994 as Jayaraj Chelladurai College, is owned and managed by CMI Fathers under Bodhi Niketan Trust from April 2009 and this is the fifth year under the CMI Management. CMI stands for Carmelites of Mary Immaculate, the first catholic indigenous religious congregation for men, started in 1831 by 3 men of God - Fr. Thomas Porookara, Fr. Thomas Palackal, and Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara.

             Jayaraj Chelladurai College (JC College) was started in the year 1994 by the Philanthropist Mr. Jayaraj Chelladurai as the realization of a long standing need of the people of nearby villages for a college. Mr. Jayaraj Chelladurai was the Founder Correspondent and continued till 2007.

            Located in the scenic beauty of Kodaikanal valley, against the green background of Western Ghats, on the Dindigul - Theni High way, JC College was the first self financing college in the District of Theni and was one of leading educational institutions at that time. It has a spacious campus in an eco-friendly atmosphere.

            Started with 4 courses JC College steadily progressed in the initial years. In 2001 - 02, permanent affiliation was granted to the then existing UG Courses. Another land mark in the history of the college was the introduction of Co-Education from the academic year 2003 - 04.
