Gadag, a district headquarters is located in the northern part of Karnataka, which is land of Kannada poet Kumaravyasa who is very eminent for his work “Gadugina Bharata†the great Kannada epic of Mahabharata. Gadag is a land of saints and philosophers. Jagadguru Shivananda Math is more relevant for its philosophical purpose and it has been spreading philosophical views to the heart of common people and enlightening their minds.
DGM Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital has been established in the same environment and it is founded by His Holiness Late Jagadguru Nandishwar Mahaswamiji of Shivananda Math, who had inspired the couple Late Sri Danappa Gurusiddappa Melmalagi and Late Smt. Girijamma Danappa Melmalagi to donate all their property to establish an Ayurveda institution in their name. It was established in the year 1979 and since then it is imparting the knowledge of Ayurveda to thousands of students and furnishing health service to the society.
