The State Institute of Education (S.I.E) Uttar Pradesh has been established in 1964 in Allahabad to implement the strategies and planning formed by NCERT, Now S.I.E. is functioning as unit of SCERT, Uttar Pradesh.
The State Institute of Education (S.I.E) is currently engaged in creation and development of books,textbooks etc for the elementary and upper primary level education.

For the quality improvement in the area of elementary education,at the national level The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been established.in 1981 in New Delhi.It provides guidance in the context of syllabi , textbooks, action research at the national level. Every state of our country follows and implements the guidance provided by NCERT in reference of syllabus, textbooks etc. Almost each state has a set up of SCERT as a representative of NCERT to implement the strategies and planning formed by NCERT. The State Institute of Education (S.I.E) Uttar Pradesh has been established in 1964 (G.O No-DI/4682/XV38/1963) in Allahabad. Now S.I.E. is functioning as unit of SCERT, Uttar Pradesh.
