स्व० इन्द्रबहादुर सिंह का जन्म मेदपुर बनकट जौनपुर में हुआ हैं | उन्होंने लगभग 03 दशक तक शिक्षण कार्य किया | सर्वोदय विद्यापीठ इण्टर कालेज के प्रबन्धक रहें तथा 1990 में रिटायर हुए 10 -05-1910 को उनकी मृत्यु तक हो गयी| इस क्षेत्र में कोई भी महाविद्यालय न होने के कारण यहाँ की छात्रायें केवल इण्टर तक की शिक्षा प्राप्त कर पाती थीं । इन छात्राओं को उच्च शिक्षा प्राप्त हो इससे प्रेरित होकर 2003 में बसन्त पंचमी सरस्वती पूजन के दिनसर्वोदय विद्यापीठ महाविद्यालय का उनके द्वारा शिलान्यास à¤•à¤¿à¤¯à¤¾ गया । महाविद्यालय को 25 अक्टूबर 2004 à¤‰à¤¤à¥à¤¤à¤° प्रदेश शासन द्वारा अनुमति प्राप्त हुई | तथा 10 जून 2005 को वीरबहादुर सिंह पूर्वाचल विश्वविद्यालय के द्वारा महाविद्यालय को अस्थायी मान्यता प्रदान किया गया तथा 01-07-2005 से महाविद्यालय में विधिवत शिक्षण कार्य प्रारम्भ हुआ | तब से अनवरत महाविद्यालय आज तक क्षेत्र में छात्र-छात्राओं को उच्च शिक्षा के अग्रणी योगदान दे रहा हैं |
