Moradabad Institute of Technology (MIT) was established in the year 1996 by Moradabad Educational Trust having four trustees namely Mr. Sudhir Gupta, Mr. Y. P. Gupta, Mr. Adarsh Agarwal & Mr. Anil Kumar Agarwal. Later on during 1998 three more trustees were added namely Mr. Neeraj Agarwal, Mr. Arvind Goel & Mr. Pradeep Jain.

 MIT is among the first few degree engineering colleges, established in U.P. in the year 1996 under the Self Financing Scheme of Govt. of India in the beginning with a modest intake of 160 students. In the course of time institute had grown and started offering nine B.Tech programmes e.g. Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Information Technology, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Civil Engineering. Besides B.Tech institute started M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. & MBA programme also.
