Govt. Education College, Raipur was established in 1955. The College was recognised by N.C.T.E., New Delhi and was established to promote the education in this area. The College comes under the Pt. Ravishankar shukla University. The University was established in 1964 and is one of the leading and oldest institutions of higher education in Chhattisgarh. The University is named after the first Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. The University has a sprawling campus in the western part of the city of Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. It is a state university, which comes under the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It is also recognised by the University Grant Commission, UGC, New Delhi.
