Bells Institute of Management and Technology is a registered educational body affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU), Hamirpur and Himachal Pradesh Takniki Shiksha Board, Dharamshala. All the technical programmes offered at the institute are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi making ours the first AICTE approved campus in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.

The management has Shimla Education & Research Society, a registered (not for profit organization under Societies Registration Act of 2006 vide Registration No. 153/2008 registered with the Registrar of Societies, Himachal Pradesh) educational body as its promoter. It has been instrumental in carrying out various projects of education dissemination. All the courses being run by the Society are recognized by the respective governing bodies and none of the courses are of private or autonomous nature.
