Jangaon is located on National Highway almost equidistant from the State Capital Hyderabad and Warangal, the district headquarters. Connected with the headquarters of South Central Railway, Secunderabad, Jangaon assumes considerable importance. With the passage of time, it has come to be known as Jangaon.

ABV Government Degree College owes it existence to ABV High School, which came into being during Nizam's rule. The Management of the school donated land for proposed Degree College in 1975. The missionary and visionary zeal of a few philanthropists under the able stewardship of the then M.L.A. Sri N. Yeti Raja Rao could muster up required support from the people of this division to start a degree college to enable the youth to gain access to Under Graduate courses which were until then available at distant places like Hyderabad and Warangal. It had a vision of reaching sections who are poor and downtrodden.
