Doon Valley Institute of Education (DVIE), Karnal is one of the educational units of Doon Valley Group of Institutes, which is run by Doon Valley Trust. It is approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The institute imparts teacher training programme at the undergraduate level. It is one-year full time programme, which is offered at par with the strict guidelines of the University. The aim of the college is to impart proper training to the educated youth in the field of education and also to enable the prospective teacher to understand the nature, purpose and spirit of Secondary/Higher Secondary Education. The College is involved to give the trainees to meet the future challenges in the field of Education and develop communication skills and use modern information technology for School Purpose.
The college is affiliated to Kurukshetra University. The university was established in 1956. It is a multi-faculty centre of higher education, and has grown up as one of the premier centers for advanced study and research in the region. It is located on the western bank of Brahm Sarovar in the holy city of Kurukshetra, the land of the historical Mahabharata. The university is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Apart from being recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC), Kurukshetra University has also been graded with 'A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
