WELCOME TO GCW PARADE The college came into being on 1st June 1944 as MAHARANI MAHILA college through mahila education society(registered body of the then prominent and respectable women of jammu ) at the instance of MAHARANI TARA DEVI. It was taken over by the Govt. of J&K on 25th November,1953 and was renamed as Govt. College for Women Parade, Jammu. It continued to be the only women college of Jammu province up to 1971.

This is the only college in Jammu Province that offers the largest number of courses ranging from Arts to Science and Commerce to B.C.A with 61 subject combinations available to the students. A total of 5401 students are pursuing their degrees on various disciplines including PG in Home Science and Music. The college has faculty strength of 98 teachers. As higher education has to be commensurate with market demand for placement of students, this college has aptly received Grant in aid from UGC for nine career oriented courses that include Functional English, Archeology and Museology, Tourism and Travel Management, Bio-Informatics , Food Processing and Quality Control and Information Management. These are on the anvil for being thrown open for admission of students in this session. This college has been acting as a platform for organization of national and state-level seminar to sensitize the latent talent within students..
