Birjhora Mahavidyalaya, popularly known as Birjhora Science College, is a co-educational college and was established in 1986 to fulfill the long felt need of this locality. Initially started by a sponsoring committee namely “Birjhora Mahavidyalaya Nirman Committee” headed by Sri P.B. Choudhury, organisationsMLA, with the active support and co-operation from the local organizations, for the college has subsequently been taken over by the education department of the State Govt. under deficit Grant-in-Aids system w.e.f. 1st January 1990 and the college was provincialised w.e.f December-2005. The College is one of the premier institution higher education offering degree courses in Science recognised by UGC. The College is affiliated to Gauhati University and has been awarded with B-Grade certification by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) in its second cycle with CGPA 2.72.
