Al-Ameen College Edathala was established in 1981 by Al-Ameen Educational Trust, Kochi. It had first been affiliated to the University of Kerala. When Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam was established in 1983, the college came under the jurisdiction of this university.
The Year 1991 was a landmark in the history of the College. It was during this year that College was elevated to the status of a first grade College with the introduction of B.Com. Degree course. Now this institution has acquired the status of a celebrated first grade college with post-graduate courses and many graduate courses catering to the needs of students to achieve vocational proficiency
