The Institute was registered as a society in 1972 in the name and style of Food Craft Institute (Ahmedabad) Society, which was changed to INSTITUTE OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT CATERING AND NUTRITION (Ahmedabad) Society consequent upon its up gradation from 1984 by Ministry of Tourism Government of India.
IHM Ahmedabad Faculty members focus to update and upgrade their skill knowledge and applications towards learning. They contribute to National Workshops, Seminars and Academic Exchange Program among others.
The Institute offers B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration three years degree program, with an intake capacity of 230 number of students every year.
