B.A.M Khalsa college is one of the leading institutions of the area. It offers many courses in different Fields. The visionaries of the areas thought of establishing an institution which could serve the needs of people. The institution was established in 1969. It was named ‘Guru Nanak Education Council’. Its goal was to to provide for the educational need of the people of Kandi area. It was latter renamed “Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College Society, Garhshankar”.

       In 1969 foundation stone of this college was laid down Education Council faced many difficulties while establishing this college but the untiring effort and goal of the people of area made many dream possible. This college is affiliated to Panjab university Chandigarh. Punjab Government and UGC provide all the financial aid required. The aim of the institution is the all round development of the personality of the student along with academic excellence. Students are encouraged to participate in sports, cultural and literary activities. This college was established in the loving memory of the martyrs of Babbar Akali Moment earlier it was managed by local committee but latter on it was taken over by S.G.P.C (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak committee shri AmrisarSahib
