Jogananda Deva Satradhikar Goswami College, Bokakhat – better known as JDSG College, is one of the prominent institutions of higher education in the district of Golaghat. Situated just by the side of N.H. 37, the college is the westernmost college under the jurisdiction of Dibrugarh University. The college covers 51 bighas of land well-protected by a concrete boundary wall. The college, enriched with a good scenic beauty has a good infrastructure and a play ground adjacent to it. Since its inception on 24th of July 1964, the college has been zealously contributing to the holistic philosophy of social, moral, economic, literary and cultural upliftment of this region envisioned by the founders of this college. Having covered a long chequered journey the college has celebrated its Golden Jubilee last year successfully. The college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University and is at present conducting two streams i.e. Arts and Commerce. These two streams were brought under the deficit system of grants in aid in the years 1975 and 1988 respectively. Later on, like other deficit grant in aid colleges of Assam, the college was also declared provincialised under an Act passed in this regard by the Government of Assam. The college is a healthy meeting ground of students belonging to SC, ST, TGL and OBC/MOBC communities, There are already two hostels in the college one each for boys and girls. At present the total strength of the college consists of about 1900 students 45 nos dedicated teachers, 24nos office staff. We have an additional strength of a well equipped library. Keeping in view the present trend of modern education as well as the challenge of time, endeavours have been made to start a number of job oriented courses in the college with the generous help of UGC, Government of Assam, NRL and so on. Our vision is ‘’Education for justice and peace.” We believe in directing all our future academic activities to fulfil this vision in the true sense of the term. Our emphasis will always be on imparting quality education to our students.
