Government Kirti College Nial-Patran was initially established as a private institution by known revolutionary freedom fighter,social worker and Ex-M.P. S.Teja Singh Swatantar in 1968.The college serves as a light house to awaken the people of this educationally backward rural area.This college is spread over an area of 155 kanals.

Initially the courses were confined to Prep classes only.From 1969 onwards B.A.I,from 1970 B.A.II,and from 1971 B.A.III classes were started. In 1968 this institute was under Punjab University Chandigarh.In 1962 Punjab Government established punjabi university Patiala for decentralization of academic powers,development of regional languages and punjabi culture then this college was undertaken by Punjabi university in 1969.On oct. 1st 1974 Punjab Govt. took over this institution.In the begining few subjects such as Punjabi,Hindi,English,History and Political-science were taught but later some new subjects like Geography,Physical education,English-Elective and Computer application were also introduced.
