National College for Teacher Education was crystallized in form and substance in the year 2005. The college is located at Meprathupady, a beautiful suburb in the Taluk of Kunnathunad on the Perumbavoor - Kolenchery road. The college is seven kilometers away from Perumbavoor Town and is within easy reach, as a number of K.S.R.T.C and private buses regularly ply the route. The college also provides hostel facility. The nearest railway station is at Alwaye, which is only twenty five kilometers from the college.

The college, affiliated to M.G University and approved by NCTE,has the enviable reputation of being one of the premier institutions in Ernakulam District, At present the total intake for B.Ed is 100 and that for M.Ed is 35. In conformity with the policy of the Government of Kerala, 50% of the seats are reserved for the merit quota and the remaining 50% are earmarked for the candidates under management quota
