In the context of acute need for properly trained personnel to man the various state and regional load despatch centres, Central Electricity Authority (CEA) which is an attached office of Ministry of Power, Government of India established Load Despatch Training Institute(LDTI) at Bangalore in 1972. Training courses on economic load despatch techniques were conducted. The institute was renamed as Power Systems Training Institute (PSTI) in 1975, in order to cover other factes of power sytems also.
With effect from 1stApril 2002, PSTI is merged with National Power Training Institute NPTI which is an ISO 9001:2000 organisation under Ministry of Power, Government of India.
