Columbus Maritime Training Institute is set amidst serene surroundings in the foot hills of the Kasara Ghats. Columbus Maritime Training Institute is located at Khardi which lies half way between Mumbai and Nasik. The campus is situated 79 Kms. from Nasik in Thane district of Maharashtra, just 2 Kms. off the Mumbai - Nasik highway.

The infrastructure consists of several buildings, each devoted to classrooms and offices, workshops, living and dining quarters. Trainees are provided with various means of recreation consisting of playing areas for football, cricket, volley ball and badminton outdoors as well as table tennis, carom, chess and other board games indoors. Facilities for watching the latest video films are also provided.

Instruction in theory as well as training is imparted in well appointed classrooms using the latest training methods and training aids by well qualified, experienced and trained staff who are all former sea-farers with several years experience as navigators and engineers in the Merchant Navy as well as NCOs in the appropriate branch of the Indian Navy. Medical facilities are provided off campus by resident medical practitioner from Khardi just 5 minutes away. On campus examination and treatment is provided for those who cannot be moved.

Excellent facilities exist for imparting training and practice in boat work and swimming. Training and certification in several of the modular courses as required by STCW convention of IMO (International Maritime Organization) is provided in-house. For those courses not conducted on the premises, arrangements are made for the trainees to receive the training at other locations.
