          Government College of Yoga Education and Health is a young baby which has originated out of the far fetched vision of Chandigarh Administration for the spread of knowledge of Yoga. ‘The future lay not only in the spread of a few yogic practices but in the thorough knowledge of this vast expanse of knowledge from our heritage’ was well realized by Education Department, Chandigarh Administration in 1981, when permission was sought from Panjab University through Government College of Education, sector 20-D, Chandigarh to initiate B.Ed. in Yoga. This institute became the first one to provide Bachelor in Education in Yoga degree in the country and we have not looked back since then. In 2007 Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy was added. In 2008, this institution, which has earlier been named as State Yoga Organization, has been updated as an independent college and our vision extends in enlarging our gambit to the higher levels of pedagogy and practice of Yoga.
