The government college of Physical Education, Easthill is one of its kind in the government sector. The college was started on 28th October, 1957. It was at that time, housed in the Science block of the Old Zamorin’s College at Tali. It has since then created innumerable sportspersons and physical education professionals, who has contributed in a large scale to the development of sports and physical education in the state and also in the national level.
The college was shifted to the present site at the picturesque site of Easthill from July 1962. The college remained closed from 1969 to 1979, and it started refunctioning from 1979-80 onwards. The one year certificate course was since then replaced with a two year certificate course, which will see its last batch passing out in the year 2016. Since the field of Physical education have undergone tremendous changes both at the state and national level, the government introduced a one year B.P.Ed course, which is a subject equivalent to B.Ed.
