Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, is an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament No. 35/2012 under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. It is spread over 42 acres of land at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. The RGNIYD was set up in 1993 under the Societies Registration Act, XXVII of 1975. Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development became ‘Deemed to be University’ in the year 2008 under section 3 of UGC act 1956. RGNIYD was converted into an Institution of National Importance by the Act of Parliament on 30.08.2012.
