Central University of Jammu (CUJ) is a Central Deemed having its territorial jurisdiction extending over Jammu Division of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. CJU has been established and incorporated by the Central Universities Act, 2009 (Act No. 25 of 2009) read with the Central Universities (Amendment) Act, 2009 (Act No. 38 of 2009), with effect from October 20, 2009. The University started functioning from August 08, 2011 with appointment of its first Vice-Chancellor. The first academic session (2011-2012) commenced with three Post Graduate courses in English, Economics and Applied Mathematics at Temporary Academic Block-I (TAB-I) at Sidhra bypass road, Jammu.
